India unviels energy efficiency trading scheme


Our PM has launced this scheme with an intention to reduce consumption by 5% annualy b 2015.

The national mission on enhanced energy efficiency will introduce a "Performa - Achieve - Trade" (PAT) mechanism that would assign energy efficiency targets to the country's most energy intensive industries.

The plan also include setting up of two funds to support energy efficiency products. This mission will be implemented by BEE which will have initial budget of over $60 million including seed capital for two funds

It says that various states are planning to purchase only star rated parts and Ministry of Power will make it mandatory to procure only energy efficient products starting Jan 1,2010.

Reports on Energy Efficency in Govt Deptts by TUV SUD for BEE

In April 2008, TUV SUD submitted a report for BEE indicating state of energy efficiency in various municipalities.

This report covers urban local bodies in 171 cities of 23 states and covering app 10 % of Indian Population.
